PADI Open Water Dive Courses

Come and join us for the diving adventure of a lifetime diving the magnificent Outer Great Barrier Reef with Cairns most established and renowned Dive operator Deep Sea Divers Den.
•    No pre-dive experience is necessary.
•    You must be able to swim 200 meters and tread water for 10 minutes. If you are a comfortable swimmer you will be fine.
For your safety a Diving Medical to Australian standard 4005.1 is a prerequisite to the PADI Open Water Certification course.
A Dive medical can be arranged at our Dive Centre on day one of the course.

Deep Sea Divers Den employs many bi-lingual PADI Diving Instructors.
•    English Open Water dive course starts daily.
•    German Open water dive course starts on a Monday.
•    Japanese Open water dive course starts on a Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday.

Below you can see that there are dive courses that last 4, 5 and 6 days. Regardless of which dive course you do, the first two days are taken up by pool and theory training. After the pool and dive theory training you can spend 2, 3, or 4 days at sea to complete your dive course. Please have a look at the different dive course options. By far the most popular dive course is our 5 Day Open Water Course.

Please note there are regulations about flying or going to altitude after diving.
•    Currently the rules state that for a single no decompression dive, you should not fly/go to altitude for at least 12 hours.
•    For multiple dives you should not fly/go to altitude for at least 18 hours.
•    Deep Sea Divers Den recommends waiting a minimum 24 hours whenever possible. These are guidelines only, there is no guarantee that these recommendations will prevent decompression sickness. Currently there are no guidelines regarding diving after flying.
Altitude is 300m/1000ft above sea level.
This includes going to the Atherton Tablelands, so be careful when you are booking tours to follow your dive course/trip.

•    5 'FUN' dives (including a guided NIGHT dive!)

6 Day Liveaboard Open Water & Advanced Dive Course
13 dives (Cairns Dive Course - Learn to dive)
•    4 Days/3 Nights Liveaboard (Cairns Dive Course)
•    9 training dives
•    4 'FUN' dives
